COOL Finds I'd like to pass on to you........

I have recently been introduced to a fabulous website called eMusic (www.emusic.com) that sells music for about .49 per track.  WOW!  That's a huge savings over iTunes and Amazon digital downloads.
Occasionally I come across HUGE collections of music (I'm talking HUGE!) that are for sale for $5-6 dollars.

I just found one collection that I highly recommend.  It's the Complete Golden Collection (Remastered) of Oum Kalthoum.  This would be a great collection to have to really get to become familiar with quintessential Egyptian music.  Oum Kalthoum was a master performer and musical darling of Egypt.  She is still considered one of the biggest stars of the East today.  Her concerts would go on for hours and the patrons would call her back for encore after encore.

I encourage you to learn more about Oum Kalthoum here

It's important to know that these tracks are recorded in concert and remastered.  These are some of the most famous and well-known songs in the Arabic music world.  These are not the short, pop-like tracks of modern music.  Many of them are upwards of 45 minutes and more long (or more).  They are a wonderful way to become more accustomed to the sounds, rhythms and nuances of Egyptian music and spending some time with them will help make you a better dancer as well.  We will be working with some classics in our upcoming year of classes.

This music find is worth so much more than what I paid for it.  I encourage you to visit eMusic.com and set up an account.  If you search for "oriental" or "belly dance", you'll find lots of stuff to sample.  You can hear samples of each song and you can also download one or two songs from an album if that's all you like.  If you change your mind, you can go back to the same album and download the whole thing and it already knows what you've downloaded before.  You don't get double charged.

Here's the link to the Oum Kalthoum collection.  It's 60 tracks and over 2200 minutes (yes, I said over two THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED minutes) of music for $5.84.

ENJOY!!!

P.S.  Bookmark and come back to this page now and then to find new "cool finds" as I come across them and add them : )  Maybe I should start a blog huh?  Oh wait, that's what my Facebook page is for.....visit me here and "Like" it if you like it : )
